ANGELA BARNES NEWS
Award-winning comedian Angela Barnes has today been announced as the new host of Radio 4 Extra's satirical sketch show Newsjack.
She says: 'I'm beyond chuffed to be the next host of Newsjack. As a self-confessed lifelong radio comedy nerd, I don't think "dream job" is too strong a phrase. Hopefully there'll be some interesting stories to really get stuck into in the New Year, heaven knows 2016 has been a bit of a slow burner on the news front...'
Angela will take her seat as host when the show returns for Series 16 next year. She follows in the footsteps of former presenters, Miles Jupp, Justin Edwards, Romesh Ranganathan and, most recently, Nish Kumar.
Tune in tonight (Friday 16th September) at 10:00pm as Angela Barnes, Ivo Graham, Romesh Ranganathan, Ed Byrne and Ed Gamble join host Dara O Briain for this week’s Mock The Week on BBC Two.
Episodes remain on iPlayer for catch up viewing once they’ve aired.
Angela Barnes has landed her first Radio 4 series commission. Based on her critically acclaimed debut show at the Edinburgh Fringe 2014, You Can't Take It With You, Angela shares the big stuff she's thinking about: life, love, family, work and death.
The four episode series is in part tribute to Angela's late father, an enormous character - (he was a sex shop manager, naturist, and a big fan of caravans and pranks), and a heavy influence on Angela who taught her a carpe diem approach to life. His motto: You Can't Take It With You.
Angela said, 'I'm dead chuffed to have a series on Radio 4. I've been a BBC Radio 4 comedy geek for as long as I can remember so it means so much that they've let me have a go.'
The show airs in fifteen minute episodes on Wednesdays from August 10th at 11:00pm.
