    ROMESH RANGANATHAN NAMED HARDEST WORKING ARTIST OF 2016

    Ents24 has revealed their list of the Hardest Working Artists of 2016 in the worlds of music and comedy, with Off The Kerb's Romesh Ranganathan coming out on top, and five more acts in the top ten.

    The charts, based on data from the UK's biggest live guide, determined which original music acts and comedians performed at the most different venues this year - with some surprising results.

    Russell Kane comes in second, Mark Steel fourth, Seann Walsh seventh, Rob Beckett eighth, Rich Hall tenth and Shappi Khorsandi in eleventh.

    RUSSELL KANE AND ANGELA SCANLON HEAD WEEKEND SIGNINGS FOR VIRGIN RADIO

    Virgin Radio, which launches on Wednesday 30th March, has today announced that popular comedian Russell Kane and charismatic presenter Angela Scanlon will head the weekend schedule for the much anticipated station. The Saturday Show (Saturday, 10:00am to 1:00pm) with Russell and Angela will kick off the weekend in style, featuring quality music, comedy features and star guests from the world of music.

    Speaking of his forthcoming role, Russell said: 'I'm buzzing like a bee on a Berocca to be involved with Virgin Radio. Angela and I can’t wait to get stuck into our weekend show; we plan on bringing a bit of controlled mayhem to music radio on a Saturday mornings. Also - I hope to bag loads of cheap Virgin flights and stuff like that. Love you, Dicky Branson!'

Multi-award winning comedian, presenter, actor, author and scriptwriter Russell Kane is best known as the host of three series of BBC3’s Live At The Electric, regular appearances on BBC1’s Live At Apollo, BBC3’s Unzipped, ITV2’s Celebrity Juice and I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here… Now!

Russell was nominated four times for prestigious Edinburgh Comedy Awards before winning Best Show in 2010. He then went onto make history as the first comedian to win both the Edinburgh Award and Melbourne Comedy Festival’s Barry Award in one year. His award-winning show Smokescreens & Castles was recorded in front of his home crowd in Westcliff-on-Sea’s at the Palace Theatre and released by Universal Pictures in 2011. Famed for his critically acclaimed tours Russell has been performing sell-out shows across the globe.

There is no end to his talents having published his first novel The Humorist which was nominated for a literary prize, he has also written, directed and starred in three plays two of which have toured, and one, blank verse, which was performed in the main house of the RSC in Stratford-Upon-Avon.

His debut movie-acting role will be released in the summer of 2015 when he cameos in Noel Clarke’s latest project.
